The OSHA "National Emphasis Program" (NEP) for Refineries OSHA developed the National Emphasis Program (NEP) to prevent accidents like the one that killed 17 people at the BP Texas City Refinery, July 28, 2005. This presentation will focus on details of the NEP from the OSHA perspective. |

John Greczek, Ph.D, OSHA Region 5 Process Safety Manager (PSM) Coordinator, covering Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.
John holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of London. He worked for Amoco for 28 years as a chemical engineer in a variety of process design and pilot plant/semi-works operations positions and then joined OSHA 10 years ago. and joined OSHA 10 years ago. John brings a unique process engineering practitioners perspective to his approach to safety compliance. |

Tour of Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Inc.
Members -- This is a special opportunity to see a blending and mixing facility that manufactures ink and coating additives for the industry. This facility also performs research and development for inks and coatings, specializing in UV cure, water-based coatings, and additives. ACHMM Chapter officer, John Lillquist, Director Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security is hosting the tour.

Our Chapter meeting will focus on a presentation of the Conservation Foundation.
The Conservation Foundation protects and enhances rivers and watersheds by improving water quality and stream ecosystems, preserving stream corridors, and increasing citizen awareness. This is accomplished through watershed planning, management and restoration.

| Tour: |
Howard T. Ricketts Laboratory (HTRL) at Argonne National Laboratory.
Members -- This is a special opportunity to see a biocontainment laboratory before it has any infectious agents. The HTRL is a part of the National Institutes of Health national strategic plan for biodefense and infectious disease research. The research will study the molecular mechanisms of infectious disease and conduct translational research to develop products such as diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines.

Our guest speakers will present "After the Top Screen, Vulnerabilty Assessment and Compliance with the Chemical Facility Security Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS)."
Note: The CFATS was enacted to ensure there are safeguards for chemical facilities at risk for exploitation by terrorist. This rule requires vulnerability assessments and implementation of improvements for chemical facilities meeting certain risk profiles. |
