Abstract: Non-manufacturing headquarters facilities can have significant environmental issues too. This paper will present and discuss environmental issues at the headquarters of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. The headquarters is a large campus including chemical laboratories, recreational facilities, office space, an airport and numerous buildings of various ages. The facilities present diverse environmental issues, for example:

· Limited historical information
· Limited infrastructure documentation since SCJ has been on-site since 1886
· R&D labs with wide variety of chemicals, wastes
· Public scrutiny
· Redevelopment of urban campus

These issues will be discussed in relation to an Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
