Enjoy
a leisurely Sunday afternoon at Comiskey Ballpark. The 2000
American League Central Division champion Chicago White Sox are
aiming to make 2001 their third trip to the playoffs in the last
nine years. See all-stars Frank Thomas, Magglio Ordonez, and Ray
Durham. Ballpark renovations allow fans better access to the team,

Sunday,
August 19 · 2:00-5:00 p.m.
They're
blue, they're bald. They beat drums covered in wet paint,
splattering the oozing colors on canvases that instantly become
abstract art. It's a weird, often wondrous, theatrical performance
piece. The group doesn't speak, but its intentions are clear, and
the audience loves it. Enjoy this matinee featuring one of the
most innovative and creative musical groups. |

Sunday,
August 19 · 2:30-6:15 p.m.
Join
in Steppenwolf's 25th anniversary celebration as the theater
presents ensemble member Martha Plimpton in a matinee production
of "Hedda Gabbler." Henry James called her "a woman
caught in the fact"--and the troubling facts of Hedda, a
great-souled woman in search of a life worth living, come pouring
out in Ibsen's masterpiece of acerbic wit and tragic destiny. |

Monday,
August 20 · 8:15 a.m.-noon
Beat
the heat and humidity of the dog days of summer on this cool
morning ride through one of the most picturesque park systems in
the world. The tour starts at historical Navy Pier, with its
impressive statue garden and giant Ferris wheel. (It's one-tenth
the size of the original built by George Ferris for the 1893
Columbian Exposition; that one held 36 people in a single
car.) North along Lake Michigan and through Lincoln Park, the tour
will highlight architecture and illustrate Chicago's passion for
parks. There will be an opportunity to stop for a snack in the
park. |

August 20 · 9:30 a.m.-noon
Perhaps
Chicago's most identifiable claim to fame is its architecture, and
one of the most enjoyable ways to experience it is on the Chicago
Architecture Foundation's river cruise. Marvel at the soaring
towers of Chicago's Loop while enjoying sparkling river vistas.
The tour spotlights 50 historic and architecturally significant
sites and offers a unique perspective on the city. Open-air and
indoor seating are available. |

Baseball:
Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Monday,
August 20 · 6:00 p.m.-midnight
Join
us for a warm summer evening of baseball at historic Wrigley
Field. Watching Sammy Sosa send one over the wall, it's easy to
recall that famous day when Babe Ruth pointed to the spot where in
moments he would plant a homer during game three of the 1932 World
Series. The Cubs are pushing for a strong season, combining
veteran players with such new players as Todd Hundley. Experience
the intimacy of a true neighborhood ballpark. Grab a bite to eat
and something to drink, and "play ball!" |

Second
City Comedy Club
Tuesday,
August 21 · 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Get
ready to laugh the night away at Second City. Many of today's top
comedy stars got their start here, including the late Chris
Farley, Tim Meadows, Bonnie Hunt, the late John Belushi and his
brother Jim, Dan Ackroyd, and many stars of "Saturday Night
Live." The show--with improvisations, blackouts, and comedy
skits lampooning local and national personalities and events, is
sure to leave you laughing! |

Outing
Wednesday,
August 22 · 2:00-8:00 p.m.
Care
to compete for the honor of your local chapter? Well, consider the
gauntlet officially thrown! The Chicago Chapter will host the
"First Chapter Challenge" at the beautiful Harborside
Golf Club, site of an award for brownfield redevelopment. Make
your reservation early for this two-person event. Scoring will be
based on a best ball format using the "callaway" scoring
system, so an established handicap is not required. Prizes will be
awarded for low team, closest to the pin, longest putt, a special
mystery category, and a hole in one. Your reservation includes
transportation to and from the course, lunch, golf and cart,
prizes, and hors d'oeuvres after the round. Grab your sticks and a
fellow chapter member or colleague and take a few swings! Or
reserve a space for yourself and we'll pair you with another CHMM.
Space is limited. |

the time to explore this unique city. With a short walk or an
inexpensive ride on public transportation, Chicago's many wonders
